The smell of the sachets was better than I expected. The smell is subtle in a larger closet but up close, wow. I have 1 on my fake Christmas tree because the scent is so good and gives me that fresh tree smell, but only when you are close to it The smell is not overpowering. If you are looking for a stronger smell, I would suggest using it for dresser drawers. It is not artificial, so the smell does nott give you a headache.
