Owner, Sue Lubeck, decided the children of Denver needed a magical bookstore. She filled her home basement with children's books and opened her doors. Soon, the books were joined by teaching resources and they all spilled into the hallway, then the living room, and into the bedrooms! That was over 45 years ago! About 10 years later she opened The Bookies Bookstore on Mississippi in Denver with books for all ages.
Today when you walk into The Bookies Bookstore you are greeted by ladies who are passionate about what they do and a store stuffed with books, toys, games and other gift items. It´s a magical place. They are also a major supplier of books, classroom sets, educational resources, and professional development materials to Colorado school districts, as well as neighboring states—and ship to classrooms all over the world!
During the pandemic we started using the online ordering service and curbside pickup until we were able to enter. We still buy online but now we pickup our books in the bookstore. It is seamless.
Sue is there and the one who orders from us. It´s cool. She makes a list and places her purchase order over the phone. We like that! Sue is one of the many reasons Idea Chíc Left Amazon.
