Klindt's Booksellers & Stationers In Dalles OR

Bookstores have a distinct smell because of all the printed paper and binding. Storied booksellers that have graced their streets since 1870 like Klindt's Booksellers and Stationerys in Dalles, OR probably smell even more special. We look forward to learning for ourselves one day because storied bookstores are on the bucketlist!

We learned about Klindt's Bookseller and Stationers when they first placed an order of our greeting cards, stationery packs and sachets. We thought of them and our other bookstore stockist immediately as the news from Amazon came out that they are shutting down all Amazon Bookstores. It is a victory of staying true to what matters in a community - the bookstores and regular loyal guests earned it for sure!

The bookstore first opened its doors in 1870. Ingwert C. Nickelsen, a native of the Island of Fohr in the Frisian Islands, near the coast of Northern Germany, decided to settle in The Dalles and open the area’s first bookstore. The original location was across the street, but a fire forced Nickelsen to move to the current location in 1893.
